Ronald Niezen is a Distinguished Teaching Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of San Diego and a Professor Emeritus in Anthropology at McGill University. He completed his doctoral degree in Social Anthropology at Cambridge, for which he spent ten months living and travelling in northern Mali.
